Bringing chemistry to where it is needed: read here about our company, mission and vision
Spark904 was founded in 2018 by our director Monalisa Goswami as a spin-off company from the University of Amsterdam, where she also obtained her PhD in chemistry. Monalisa was sparked by the observation that academic labs have a wealth of infrastructure and expertise but there was no proven methodology for others to access this valuable infrastructure and knowledge. She set-up Spark904, first as a chemical analysis service provider by accessing university research equipment when it was no in use by academic researchers. Thus, Spark904 was born! A research service provider with no research assets of its own! All work was performed on existing equipment at different facilities within the university.
Soon she realised that clients were asking for more than just the routine analytical work. They were interested in advice, academic level of expertise, support with innovation trajectories & consultations on a flexible basis. Thus, Spark904 transformed itself to a technical consultancy company that helps companies with entire research, development and innovation trajectories. Next to that, Spark904 has also captured a niche in developing and assessing technologies for recovery and recycling of waste. This fits very well with our core vision to make judicious use of all resources. Over the years, we have worked with several companies and organisations on waste recycling projects where we have taken up entire R&D trajectories. Here, we bring in our team’s deep understanding of molecular sciences and our unprecedented access to a large variety of research infrastructure, in several academic labs in Europe. For our clients in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry we continue to perform advanced spectroscopic and analytical work on-demand.
Spark904 is a technical consultancy firm that helps its clients assess and develop technologies that are more circular and sustainable. We perform analyses, provide advise and perform research, development and innovation work for our customers, both in the public and private sector. Our team consists of technically educated people with great communication skills and a service-oriented attitude. We come from diverse cultural backgrounds and all team members bring their own flavour to the projects. We are highly independent in our roles but coordination and communication is always our top priority. Our core team supports our clients throughout the process, with intake meetings, on-boarding, defining and writing project plans, desk research, all preparatory work, lab work, discussion of results, deep data analysis, and advise you on the next steps. All our core team members have a background in chemistry with the capacity to talk in laymen terms, leading to highly efficient meetings and cooperation.
Next to our core team, our senior consultants are subject-matter experts and academic level researchers. They actively take part in our projects and together with them we cover a large scale of topics starting from materials, to energy to molecular sciences and spectroscopy. Our senior consultants accelerate the speed of our projects and add immense value by bringing in their years of experience and niche expertise.
Spark904 has the ambition to become a technical consultancy firm like no other in the sustainability & circular economy sector. Spark904 is not just another technical consultancy firm, giving theoretical advise based on desk research and market knowledge. We have a hands on mentality and way of working. We have the capacity and the ambition to follow up on the advice that we give to our partners by performing experiments in the labs. When you work with us you can expect high service levels, great communication and transparency. To catch a glimpse of what we do visit our research blog and project highlights pages.
Our vision is to contribute towards a world where there are equal opportunities for all, to remove barriers, build strong trust-based communities, constantly learn and where we remain curious for new ideas and stories.
Our mission is to play a crucial technological role in 50 new innovative products/ services in the circular economy by 2032. To develop at least three new technologies or products in the circular economy by 2032. To make the sharing of research infrastructure and knowledge the norm in all European Science Park hubs.
